President of Common Council Presented by me to the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana September 28 , �9 82 `` ' A7 ` °�"4-4"""y City Clerk Approved and signed by /1/N-/.!is �1 �9 e---4 7).& GZ_ " Mayor RESOLUTION NO. g76,-ga A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL AUTHOR- IZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A GOVERNOR' S DISCRETIONARY GRANT, UNDER THE COMPREHENSIVE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING ACT THROUGH THE INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, acting through the Office of the Mayor and the Common Council, has aggressively and successfully sought to improve South Bend ' s economy by initiating and supporting economic development projects which increase the City' s tax base, job opportunities, and local incomes; and WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, acting through the Office of the Mayor and Common Council, has aggressively and successfully sought out assistance to support local efforts and to supplement local resources; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the Governor' s Discretionary Fund is to strengthen the links between economic development activities and CETA efforts to provide employment for low to moderate income persons; and WHEREAS, the City of South Bend would like to continue its development packaging and job targeting linkage mechanism and strengthen said mechanism with an industrial development inducement project to be utilized principally in economic development activities that have a sub- stantial potential for job creation; and WHEREAS, the Mayor is the chief executive officer of the City, and is the applicant for a Governor' s Discretionary Grant through the Indiana Department of Commerce. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: SECTION I. The Mayor has the authority to submit an applica- tion for funds from the Governor' s Discretionary Fund through the Indiana Department of Commerce. SECTION II . The Department of Redevelopment shall be Admin- istrative Agent for the program, should funds be awarded. SECTION III . This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.
