RESOLUTION NO. 1035-83
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING THE YOUTH ACTION
TEAM FOR ITS DEDICATION AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO CIVIC
ACTIVITIES
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend
recognizes the Youth Action Team has been involved with the
crusade to remove the Violin Woman Sculpture from atop the
water fountain in front of the Morris Civic Auditorium; and
WHEREAS, the Youth Action Team has gathered hundreds
of signatures on a petition urging that the sculpture be
relocated to a grassy knoll near the water fountain; and
WHEREAS, the Youth Action Team believes that the Violin
Woman Sculpture blocks the main water jets of the fountain
which severely alter one of the most beautiful fountains in
South Bend; and
WHEREAS , through the work of the Youth Action Team and
Mark Kurowski, a special committee has been appointed to take
a comprehensive and detailed review of the location of the Violin
Woman Sculpture.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE ITS RESOLVED by the Common Council of
the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows :
SECTION I . The Common Council commends the Youth Action
Team for its energy and efforts to have their voice heard on
the location of the Violin Woman Sculpture.
SECTION II . The Common Council further commends the
Youth Action Team and Mark Kurowski for working with and
through the civic process on this community activity.
SECTION III . This Resolution shall be in full force
and effect from and its adoption by the Common Council and
approval by the Mayor.
