Itir Presented by me to the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana December 7, 19 83 . eant--,)-pc-e-c-- City Clerk Approved and signed by me > 19 9� . 17- �� Mayor RESOLUTION NO. 1102-83 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING LEWIS A.MCGANN FOR -HIS FOUR YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS A COUNCILMAN FOR THE FOURTH DISTRICT WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes that Lewis A. McGann has diligently served the citizens of South Bend and in particular the citizens of the Fourth District since 1980; and WHEREAS, during this period of time, Councilman McGann served as President of the City Council fot three years; and WHEREAS, the Common Council recognizes with pride some of Councilman McGann's many contributions which included: co-sponsoring the "budget reform" or "truth in spending" ordinance: helping to negotiate the first 3-year police and fire wage package in the history of the City; sponsoring the ordinance to regulate outdoor motion picture theaters through licensing; assisting in reforming all City licensing procedures; and instituting a mandatory review of all City utility rates on a regular basis; and WHEREAS, the Common Council hopes that Councilman McGann will continue to stay active in public service activities and will continue to contribute his thoughts and ideas in making South Bend a better place to live and work. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. On behalf of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana, and in particular the citizens of the Fourth District, the Common Council hereby publicly commends and thanks Councilman Lewis A. McGann for his four years of dedicated public service as Fourth District Councilman. SECTION II. The Common Council' publicly acknowledges Councilman McGann' s many contributions to improve the quality of life in South Bend, and wishes him, his wife Kathy, and their children, continued good fortune in the years ahead.
