AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, APPROPRIATING AN ADDITIONAL $500.00 FROM SOLID WASTE
CAPITAL FUND N0.611, AND AN ADDITIONAL $75,000 FROM SEWER
INSURANCE FUND N0.640
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
Additional funds are needed for expenses in budget year 2008 consisting of $500.00 for
the Solid Waste Capital Fund No. 611, and an additional $75,000 from Sewer Insurance Fund
No. 640. These additional monies were not anticipated at the time the City passed the 2008 City
Budget in 2007 (Ordinance No. 9787-07).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South
Bend, Indiana, as follows:
Section I. The additional sum of $500.00 is appropriated in fiscal year 2008 and set aside
within Solid Waste Capital Fund No. 611 for expenses.
Section II. The additional sum of $75,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2008 and set
aside within Sewer Insurance Fund No. 640 for expenses.
Section III. After its passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor, this
ordinance shall be effective as of and retroactive to December 31, 2008.

Re: Ordinance for Additional Appropriations -Funds 611 and 640
Dear President Rouse:
Additional funds are needed for expenditures in budget year 2008 consisting of Five Hundred
Dollars ($500) for the Solid Waste Capital Fund No. 611 and the sum of Seventy-Five Thousand
Dollars ($75,000) for Sewer Insurance Fund No. 640. Both of these are Enterprise funds.
Because the Council is not meeting again in December 2008, we are requesting the Council
make its approval of this ordinance retroactive to December 31, 2008.
I will present this ordinance to the Council at its Personnel and Finance Committee meeting and
at its regular business meeting.
