T `c C City Clerk Approved and signed by me 0 C <3 19 <J . 2 ( i Mayor RESOLUTION NO. 1210-84 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING THE NORTHERN INDIANA JUNIOR OLYMPIC BASEBALL TEAM OF 1984 WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, notes that the eighteenth meeting of the AAU/USA National Games of Junior Olympics Baseball officially opened on August 15, 1984, in Jacksonville, Florida; and WHEREAS, over 5,000 Junior Olympic athletes from the entire United States and its territories participated in team and individual sporting events; and WHEREAS, the 1984 Northern Indiana Junior Olympic Baseball Team consisted of twenty (20) players selected from an original group of 120 individuals from five (5) counties, namely: Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaPorte, Porter, and St. Joseph; six (6) volunteer coaches; three (3) bat boys; and one (1) statistician. WHEREAS, the Common Council congratulates the Northern Indiana Junior Olympic Baseball Team for winning five (5) straight games in four (4) days, and being the only undefeated baseball team of the eleven (11) teams participating; and WHEREAS, the . South Bend Common Council wishes to extend its congratulations to the following gold medal winners who made up the Northern Indiana Junior Olympic Baseball Team; players: Christopher E. Bend from Chesterton; Robert Mann and Timothy C. Peek from Elkhart; Thomas A. Molnar and Brian D. Wolff from Granger; Larry Scott Upp and Gregory L. Perschke from LaPorte; David R. Shinn and Frank M. Cardello from Michigan City; Brent W. Szynski and Brian L. Piotrowicz from North Liberty; Ronald Mejer, Thomas K. Weinberg, Jeffrey S. Hauteman, Kevin R. Gerencher, Brian Ullery, and Ken Sage from South Bend; Eric Snyder from Union Mills; and Douglas C. Jones and Michael M. Norris from Warsaw; Coaches : Richard A. Tomaszewski, Len Buczkowski, James P. Dermody, Glenn Duddleson, Joel Reinebold, and Joseph Yonto; Bat Boys: Steve Buczkowski; Matt Buczkowski and Kelly Weinberg; and Statistician Mike Buczkowski. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana as follows : SECTION I. The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, publicly commends the 1984 Northern Indiana Junior Olympic Baseball Team for winning the gold medal at the eighteenth (18th) meeting of the AAU/USA National Games held in Jacksonville, Florida. SECTION II. The hardwork, winning spirit, and team effort of the athletes, coaches, and staff of the 1984 Northern Indiana Junior Olympic Baseball Team are qualities which enhance the quest for excellence both on and off the . field. SECTION III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from, and after its adoption by the Common Council and approval by 1h. Mayor.
