Dear Ms. Gammon:
Enclosed herein are: an executed copy of a petition
for real property tax abatement consideration for Mittler
Supply, Inc. , 3607 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana
46614; a copy of a form of resolution to be adopted by the City
Council of South Bend, Indiana, approving tax abatement for
this project; a copy of a form of confirmatory resolution to be
adopted by the City of South Bend, Indiana, approving tax
abatement for this project; and a $100. 00 check to cover the
filing fee.
Also enclosed herein are: an executed copy of a
petition for personal property tax abatement for Mittler
Supply, Inc. , 3607 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana
46614; a form of resolution to be adopted by the City Council
of South Bend, Indiana, granting tax abatement to this project;
a form of confirmatory resolution to be adopted by the City
Council of South Bend, Indiana, confirming tax abatement to
this project; and a check in the amount of $100. 00 to cover the
filing fee.
Mittler Supply, Inc. manufactures and sells various
types of bottled gases. It currently is planning a $1, 800, 000
expansion of its facilities which will include a $400, 000

expansion of its existing building, the purchase of $1. 4
million in cylinders used to contain bottled gas, and a
$100, 000 computer. This will enable it to compete in the
specialty gas industry.
The planned project will create nine new, permanent
jobs, representing an annual payroll increase of approximately
$175, 000. It will enable South Bend to retain and see an
expansion of what is in many respects a high technology
employer. Tax abatement to this project would encourage
beneficial development of the strategically important South
Michigan Street area and the development of a local source of a
commodity with important uses in the research and high
technology electronics industry which, hopefully, will
encourage the development of such industries in this area due
to the presence of an adequate supply of such materials. As
Mittler Supply, Inc. is a manufacturing concern, these requests
for tax abatement satisfy the current guidelines established by
the City Council of South Bend, Indiana. Therefore, a
favorable consideration to this project is respectfully
requested.
We would appreciate your placing this matter on the
agenda for the City Council at the earliest point in time
allowable.
Sincerely yours,
BARNES & THORNBURG
