U v 1 A1' - Mayor RESOLUTION NO. 04 -ad A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING THE PRINCIPAL, TEACHERS, AND STUDENTS AT JACKSON MIDDLE SCHOOL WHO ARE SPEARHEADING THE "SAVE OUR LITTLE LIBERTY FUND" WHEREAS, the South Bend Common Council notes that the students of Jackson Middle School have joined together with the students of St. Anthony's Junior High School in spearheading a campaign to restore the Statue of Liberty in front of the County Courthouse in our downtown; and WHEREAS, the students have brought the statue's deteriorating condition to the attention of the public and wish to restore it as a symbol of bride to our City; and WHEREAS, the Ccam on Council wishes to publicly commend all of the hardworking students of Jackson Middle School, their principal, Mr. Michael Harding, and the Staff Members of the Art Department in their spirited efforts to promote public awareness and involvement in saving and restoring South Bend's Statue of Liberty. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. On behalf of the citizens of South Rend, Indiana, the Common Council hereby publicly commends the students, teachers, and principal of Jackson Middle School who are involved in establishing the "Save Our Little Liberty Fund." SECTION II. The Council believes that the enthusiasm and work of the Jackson Middle School's individuals, in conjunction with the spirited enthusiasm and work of those involved from St. Anthony's Junior High School, and Staff Members from Southhold and the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, is one of the best examples of contributing positively to our Community. SECTION III. The Common Council urges all citizens who wish to become involved with the "Save Our Little Liberty Fund" to contact the school officials so that "Our Little Liberty" can once again be a symbol of pride in our Community. SECTION IV.
