A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND,INDIANA PUBLICLY HONORING, COMMENDING AND THANKING
ANGEL HERNANDEZ FOR HIS MORE THAN 35 YEARS OF DEDICATION AND EXCELLENCE
IN THE BROADCASTING AND VIDEO PRODUCTION FIELDS
Off0142741 the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes that Cuban-born Angel
Hernandez was raised in Westchester County, New York, and began working with WNIT in 2005; and
v//feeme, Mr. Hernandez was well known for his work as a station manager at WLRN-FM in Miami,
Florida, where he worked with a production staff of fifty (50) persons, and as a Vice-President of production at
WITF-TV in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where some of their best-known productions included a 2004 production
showcasing Pennsylvania's Historic Firehouses and a 2005 production on "Our Town, Annville” a small town
located in Lebanon County; and
Olifeares, when Mr. Hernandez brought his production skills to WNIT as its Vice-President of Production,
he quickly began working on documentaries such as "Our Town: Goshen" in 2010, where Mr. Hernandez noted
that "I made it more like storytelling segments where people would actually have the opportunity to talk about
why they taped what they taped and why they love living in that area, so it became more of a story about the town
from the point of view of the videographers". In 2010, WNIT's documentary "Kicking the Notes the Toradze
Way"which focused on Alexander Toradze and his Piano Studio at Indiana University South Bend, was selected
as a finalist at the prestigious International Television Festival Golden Prague Awards in the Czech Republic, and
won a regional Emmy award in two categories that year,which were presented in Chicago; and
y Mr. Hernandez was selected by Indiana University South Bend as a "Sustainability Fellow"
which recognized him as an award-winning producer who has placed programs on PBS, The Learning Channel,
The Travel Channel, the Telemundo Network, the American Public Television System, and Japan's N.H.K; and
has led his production teams to be nominated for over twenty(20)regional Emmys and nine(9) Associated Press
Awards, during his career.

Section I. On behalf of all of the residents of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council is especially
honored and proud to recognize Angel Hernandez for his many gifted talents in directing & producing in the
commercial, cable, web and public broadcasting platforms in the past 35 years; and wishes him a long and happy
retirement. Congratulations!Felicitaciones!
