P T A RESOLUTION OF THE COPAION COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, DESIGNATING TUESDAY, MARCH 4,
` '• 1986, AS "TEACHER DAY USA" IN SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
WHEREAS, each year the Comm Council of the City of South Bend,
Indiana, is proud to adopt a resolution designating "Teacher Day USA" at the
local level; and
WHEREAS, the National Education Association has designated Tuesday,
March 4, 1986, as "TEACHER DAY USA" as a day of national recognition of the
countless professional services teachers perform for our children; and
WHEREAS, the role of teachers is especially meaningful and poignant
this year as we remember a dedicated high school teacher from Concord, New
Hampshire, who said "I touch the future. I teach!" and a second grade
teacher from McCall, Idaho, who plans to "push on" in the quest of our
Nation's teacher-astronaut program; and
WHEREAS, the Cannon Council wishes to publicly commend all of the
teachers of the South Bend Community School Corporation for daily
challenging our youth in their intellectual and social growth and
development.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Cannon Council of the City of
South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
SECTION I. The Cannon Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana,
recognizes the vital role that teachers have in public education all across
America and especially in South Bend, Indiana.
SECTION II. The Common Council publicly commends all teachers of the
South Bend Community School Corporation for their countless contributions to
our educational system and hereby declares Tuesday, March 4, 1986, as
"TEACHER DAY USA" in South Bend, Indiana.
SECTION III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption by the Conan Council and ap.roval by t Mayor.,
