Presented by me to the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana December 1719 85 -e l- l fca-"'`- City Clerk Approved and signed by me Il 6,(2/ , 7 74; 19 /L v`'7/✓� Mayor y RESOLUTION NO. 1383-85 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMEMORATING SOME OF THE MANY CONTRIBUTIONS MADE TO OUR COMMUNITY BY THE LATE WILLIAM J. RICHARDSON WHEREAS, the Cannon Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, notes with sincere sadness the passing of one of St. Joseph County's finest and most dedicated public servants, William J. Richardson; and WHEREAS, the Council recognizes with pride his many years of public service as the City Engineer for the City of South Bend, as the St. Joseph County Engineer, and as the St. Joseph County Sheriff; and WHEREAS, Bill's love for community involvement included being President of the Board of the Great Lakes Forensic Laboratory, Honorary Chairman of the American Cancer Society's Jail-a-Thon in 1984, being a member of the Society of Registered Professional Engineers, and countless other civic and charitable organizations; and WHEREAS, some of his many community service accomplishments included the building of three (3) bridges over the Indiana Toll Road, engineering the reconstruction of several St. Joseph County bridges; and bringing to construction stage the Church-Union underpass in Mishawaka and the Olive-Sample Overpass in South Bend; and WHEREAS, Bill's richest legacy which our community will long remember includes his love and respect for his fellow man, his quick wit, his "Die-Hard Cub Fan Club" spirit, his dedication to professionalism in all tasks, and his ability to inspire and motivate all of those around him. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Cannon Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows; SECTION I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council hereby publicly commemorates the late William J. Richardson for his many accomplishments and public service activities, and for enriching, inspiring, caring for, and touching countless individuals in our Community throughout his life. SECTION II. The Common Council expresses its deepest sympathy to Jean Patricia Richardson and their seven (7) children, and sincerely hopes that the rich and abundant memories of Bill will brighten the years ahead. SECTION III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by the Cannon Council and approval by the Mayor.
