'/ ( Mayor IL( 3o - 8"G COMMON COUNCIL STATEMENT ON DRUGS AND YOUTH WHEREAS, the Common Council for the City of South Bend, Indiana is. concerned about*all youth and the prevalence of unlawful drug usage on the National, State, and Local levels; and WHEREAS, the Common Council for the City of South Bend, Indiana is _concerned about the future of the youth of South Bend and the harmful effects of drug misuse; and WHEREAS, the Common Council encourages any and all residents of the City of South Bend to fight against drug abuse among the youth in our community; and WHEREAS, Common Council believes that the youth of South Bend will be better served by assuring that unlawful drugs will not be prevalent within the City of South Bend; and IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS : 1. That the Common Council for the City of South Bend is against any unlawful drug use by its residents and particularly its youth. 2. That the South Bend Common Council hereby encourages all residents to be concerned about educating our youth about the dangers of drug misuse. 3. That the South Bend Common Council commends and supports People United Against Drugs, which is an organization directing its attention to educating youth about the use and misuse of unlawful drugs, for sponsoring programs designed to further instruct youth against using unlawful drugs and encourage youth to stay away from unlawful drugs.
