RESOLUTION NO. 1443-86
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, PROCLAIMING
THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 20 26 , 1986 AS "ENERGY
AWARENESS WEEK" IN SOUTH BEND.
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend recognizes
that the conservation of energy is a key to easing energy
shortages and escalating energy costs ; and
WHEREAS, limited energy resources must be used wisely and efficiently,
with regard for ecological as well as economical considera-
tions; and
WHEREAS, renewable sources of energy must be developed and promoted
' in order to assure an ample and affordable base of energy
for the future; and
WHEREAS, on-going public education programs and conservation efforts
are vital to efficient energy use; and
WHEREAS, Governor Robert D. Orr of the State of Indiana has desig-
nated October, 1986 as Energy Month in Indiana.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows:
SECTION I . On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of
South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council hereby publicly
proclaims the week of October 20 - 26 , 1986 as "Energy
Awareness Week" in South Bend.
SECTION II . This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council
and approval by the Mayor.
