ORDINANCE NO. A 9. J
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 1774 ADOPTED
APRIL 12, 1915.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South
Bend, Indiana.
SECTION 1.
That Section Number Five (5) of Ordinance Number 1774,
adopted April 12, 1915, be amended to read as follows, to-wit:
"Fourth Ward. The Fourth Ward shall be bounded as follows,
to-wit:
Beginning at the intersection of the center of the St.
Joseph River and East Jefferson Boulevard; thence running East along A
the center of Jefferson Boulevard to the center of Greenlawn Avenue;
thence running North along the center of Greenlawn Avenue to the
Northerly limits of the said City of South Bend; thence West along
the said Northerly limits of the said City of South Bend, to the inter-
section of said Northerly limits with the center of the St. Joseph
River; thence Southerly and Easterly along the center of said River
to the place of beginning."

SECTION 2. •
That an Eighth Ward be created within the limits of said
City of South Bend, which said Eighth Ward shall be bounded by a line
running as follows, to-wit:
"Beginning at the intersection of the center line of Logan
Street with the center of the St. Joseph River and running Westerly
and Northerly along the center of said river to the intersection of
the center line of East Jefferson Boulevard and the said center line
of said river; thence East along the center line of said Jefferson
Boulevard to the center line of Greenlawn Avenue; thence North along
the center line of Greenlawn Avenue to the Northerly line of the said
City of South Bend; thence East along the said Northerly line of said
City to the center line of Logan Street; thence South along the center
line of said Logan Street, to the place of beginning ."
SECTION 3.
That Section One of said Ordinance Number 1774 be amended
to read as follows, to-wit:
"That all the territory within the City of South Bend,
Indiana, be divided into eight wards numbered- First, Second, Third,
Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth, and the boundaries of all
said wards, except said Fourth Ward and the said Eighth Ward hereby
created, shall be and remain the same as in said Ordinance Number 1774
created."
SECTION 4.
That Section Nine of said Ordinance Number 1774 be amended
to read as follows, to-wit:
"That each of said Wards shall be represented in the
Common Council of the said City of South Bend by one Councilman, who

shall be elected by the vote of his respectiveuard. That the
said City at large shall be represented by four (4). Councilmen-
At-Large, who shall be elected by the whole city."
All other provisions of said Ordinance Number 1174,
except as herein and here* amended, shall be and remain in full
force and effect as thereby enacted and all provisions of said
Ordinance, save and except as amended hereby, shall apply to the
said Fourth Ward as amended and the said Eighth Ward as hereby
created.
SECTION 5.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage.
