Presented by me to the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana March 10 , 19 87, ° ` e /� r/l` ` �° �• City Clerk Approved and signed by me cy.■o '\ 0 19 i 7 111 / Mayor RESOLUTION NO. 1 `E 1 1 - Ts)-7 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING HAROLD BRAZIER FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ATHLETIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO OUR COMMUNITY WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, acknowledges that Harold Braier holds the Junior Welterweight Division Title of the North American Boxing Federation; and WHEREAS, Harold Brazier won the boxing title in October of 1986 and defended and retained the title on February 28, 1987; and WHEREAS, Harold Brazier is a native of South Bend, Indiana, and a graduate of Riley High School; and WHEREAS, in addition to his boxing talents, Harold Brazier is known for his wrestling abilities and holds a black belt in karate; and WHEREAS, he is married, the father of four. (4) children and a member of Faith Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, the Cannon Council believes that Harold Brazier exanplifies the high standards and qualities which have made him an excellent role model for the youth of our nation and especially the youth of our canuunity. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: SECTION I . On behalf of all of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council hereby publicly carnends Harold Brazier for winning and retaining the Junior Welterweight Division Title of the North American Boxing Federation. SECTION II . The Common Council believes that Harold Brazier's outstanding athletic achievements and personal contributions have brought honor to both him and his community. SECTION III . The Common Council believes that the hard work and dedication of Harold Brazier make him an excellent role model to our youth and we wish him continued success in the years ahead. SECTION IV.
