A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT AN
APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN
DEVELOPMENT FOR THE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of South Bend is concerned and interested in
providing assistance to its homeless residents; and
WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States of America passed the
Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act, which through its
Department of Housing and Urban Development has made funds available to
cities to provide assistance to its homeless residents; and
WHEREAS, the City of South Bend has been notified by the Department
of Housing and Urban Development that grants are available for the
development of transitional housing units; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
South Bend, Indiana as follows:
Section I . The Mayor of South Bend is hereby authorized through
the Bureau of Housing, Department of Economic Development to submit an
application in the amount of $200,000. to the United States Department
of Housing and Urban Development for the Transitional Housing Grant
program.
Section II . This resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.
