Real Property) Bill No. 15-73 Designating Tax Abatement—Thomas& Lisa Loughran (810 N. St. Peter St.—5 Yr. Residential Property) The Community Investment committee was called to order by Chairman Gavin Ferlic. He noted there were two tax abatement petitions on the agenda, one confirming and one residential. The first was bill 15-72, a confirming 7 year real property abatement for Ameriplex at 5231 Dylan Dr. Brock Zeeb from Community Investment made the presentation. In that this was a confirming abatement, Brock reviewed the initial petition adding clarification to answer Council questions asked at the initial presentation. Councilmembers Valerie Schey and Tim Scott both voiced support for the new development. Dr. David Varner asked if"greenfield" projects were hurting"brownfield" projects. Brock responded saying when possible the City promoted inner city over those on the outskirts of town. In this case,Ameriplex needed easy air and roadway access to ease the distribution process. Questions answered, David Varner motioned to send favorably. Fred Ferlic seconded and all affirmed. Resolution 15-73 was next. This was a request for a five year residential abatement for a home to be built at 810 N.St. Peter. Brock Zeeb made the initial presentation followed by Lisa Loughran, the petitioner, who described the investment. Councilmember David Varner took this opportunity to explain the positives of an abatement, namely increasing the tax base and phase-in of taxes. Motions to send favorably were made by Fred Ferlic and David Varner and were supported by all. 1 Before adjourning, Karen White asked Scott Ford, Director of Community Investment to provide the Council with a map of lane markings on Western Avenue by the next Council meeting. He said he would happily do so. Gavin Adjourned at 3:44 p.m. Respectfully Submitted, Gavin Ferlic,Chairperson Community Investment Committee 2
