Resolution No. 1563-87
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING ROGER O. PARENT FOR HIS SIXTEEN
(16) YEARS OF DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE AS MAYOR AND FOURTH
DISTRICT COUNCILMAN OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND.
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
Indiana, recognizes with pride that ROGER O. PARENT served
the citizens of South BEtid as their Fourth District
Councilman from 1972 through 1980; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council further recognizes that
ROGER O. PARENT has proudly served as Mayor of the City of
South Bend since 1980; and
WHEREAS, in his sixteen (16) years of dedicated public
service to the City, ROGER O. PARENT, has earned the
reputation of being a competent and caring professional; and
WHEREAS, some of the many projects of Mayor Parent
include: the Fredrickson Park; the completion of the East
Raceway; the Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium; the
Community Oriented Police Program; improved neighborhoods; a
revitalized downtown; and quality city services; and
WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, Indiana, will long
remember the many contributions made to our community by
this dedicated and caring public servant, MAYOR ROGER O.
PARENT.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows:
SECTION I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the
City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council hereby
publicly commends and thanks ROGER O. PARENT for his sixteen
(16) years of dedicated public service; eight (8) years as
Mayor of the City and eight (8) years as its Fourth District
Councilman.
SECTION II. The Common Council publicly acknowledges
Mayor Parent's countless contributions in making the City of
South Bend; a better place to live and work; and wishes
Roger and Rolande continued success and good fortune as they
embark on new careers.
SECTION III. This Resolution shall be in full force
and effect from and after its adoption by the Common
Council.
