Councilman Henry Davis, Jr., and Friends Honors Mr. Al Carothers for 50 years of Service.
SOUTH BEND— Tomorrow, September 5, Councilman Henry Davis, Jr., will present Mr. Al
Carothers with an honorary street name change for 50 years of service. The event will take place
at 9am on the corner of Longley and Olive.
"AI is the epitome of grace and service in the South Bend community. It is not often that you can
honor the living in this manner with such distinction," says Davis.
This year marks 50 years of service for the entrepreneur, South Bend native, business man and
avid Notre Dame Football fan. The day will be celebrated with friends, family
, and longtime customers.
"I'm excited and humbled to present this honorary sign to Mr. Al to commemorate 50 years of
service in South Bend.'Al's House of Styles' is cornerstone for the westside and has provided so
many service beyond the service of haircutting and we are blessed to have him apart of the South
Bend family," expressed Councilman Henry Davis, Jr.
Honorary Street designations was started in 2009 under the guidance and direction of Mayor
Stephen Luecke and Councilman Henry Davis, Jr. The first designation went to Pastor Dave
Davis, a local pastor and activist from South Bend's Westside. The celebration will begin
promptly at 9a with the sign presentation and reading of a proclamation from the office of the
2nd District. The entire community is invited to attend the early morning festivities.
