NEW VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS SOUTH BEND'S ASSESTS AND HOPES FOR HALL OF FAME SITE
Downtown South Bend (DTSB) released a video highlighting how the city has come to terms
with its industrial past turning the manufacturing section of town into an emerging high -tech
industrial park. It also features how South Bend has been preparing itself for the information age
since before anyone knew what was coming. As was a benefit to Studebaker sitting at the
intersection of shipping crossroads, today South Bend is sitting at the center of six national fiber
routes at the center of the information superhighway.
This is just the beginning of a new South Bend, says DTSB, as they and the City of South Bend
seek a partner to help adaptively reuse the former College Football Hall of Fame, located at 111
South St. Joseph Street in downtown South Bend. A website, Cal1ForOffer.com, has been
established with submittal requirements. The deadline for submissions is July 31.
"This is a great property with tremendous potential and a key piece of downtown redevelopment,"
Mayor Pete Buttigieg says. "Adapting existing assets to new uses is a City priority and we look
forward to seeing proposals that offer a dynamic addition to the community."
