AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA,
SETTING THE ANNUAL SALARIES FOR THE
COUNCIL MEMBERS FOR CALENDAR YEARS
2000, 2001, 2002 AND 2003
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
Pursuant to Indiana Code §36-4-7-2, the City's legislative body is required to fix the annual
compensation of all elected officers. Such compensation may "not be changed in the year for which
it is fixed, nor may it be reduced below the amount fixed for the previous year."
The following Ordinance establishes the annual compensation for Common Council
Members for calendar years 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows:
Section I. The members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, shall
be paid from the General Fund the following Annual Salary amounts for the following calendar
years:
2000: $15,226.00
2001: $15,493.00
2002: $15,764.00
2003: $16,040.00
Section II. This Ordinance must be published under Indiana Code §5-3-1, with the first
publication at least thirty (30) days before final passage by the legislative body.
Section III. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the
Common Council, approval by the Mayor, and legal publication.

Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion, this bill is being
recommended to the full Council with a favorable recommendation as amended to Bill No. 89-99
instead of 59-99 because of a scrivener error.
