MEMORIAL DAY, STREET NAME CHANGING CEREMONY
Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Veterans will temporarily change the name of the intersection of Ford
and Lombardy Streets to "Memorial Day Drive" to kickoff the traditional South Bend Westside
Memorial Day Parade at 10:30am Thursday, May 21. The intersection is east of Navarre
Intermediate Center, 4702 Ford Street.
The South Bend Westside Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 25 starting at
8:15am. The Parade route is along Ford Street, beginning at Lombardy Street and proceeding
east to Olive Street. Mayor Buttigieg will walk in the parade with City of South Bend employees.
This parade, now in its 92 year, is one of the largest in the state and the only one to take place
down a residential street. There are 96 parade entries and all four public high school bands will
participate along with numerous other civic organizations.
