AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING COUNCI12vMrIC DISTRICTS IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND BY DIVIDING SAID CITY INTO SIX SUCH COUNCILMANIC DISTRICTS, AND FIXING THEIR BOUNDARIES, AND PROVIDING FOR THE USE OF VOTING MACHINES IN ELECTIONS FOR NOMINATING AND ELECTING OFFICERS OF SAID CITY, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: SECTION 1. That councilmanic districts are hereby established in the City of South Bend, Indiana, and all the territory within the City of South Bend is hereby divided into six such eouncilmanic districts, numbered First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth, and the boundaries of each of such districts shall be as follows, to -wit: SECTION 2. The First District shall be bounded as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the center line of East Colfax Avenue and center of the St. Joseph River; thence west along the center of Colfax Avenue to the center of LaPorte Avenue; thence northwesterly along the center of LaPorte Avenue to the center of Euclid Avenue; thence north along the center of Euclid Avenue to the center of Lincoln way west; thence northwest- erly along the center of Lincoln way 'Best to the center of Bendix Drive North; thence north along the center of Bendix Drive North to the northerly city limits; thence east along said city limits to the center of Eclipse Place; thence north along the center of said Eclipse Place to the center of Bergen Street; thence east along the center of Bergen Street to the center of Meade Street; thence north along the center of Meade Street projected (said projected line being a western city limits line) to the northerly city limits; thence east along the northerly limits of said City of South Bend to the intersection of said northerly limits and ORDINANCE No. 10,3 Passed by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, Attest: I93-,1— Clerk. SECTION 3. The Second District shall be bounded as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the center line of North Lafayette Boulevard with the center line of West Colfax Avenue; thence west along the center of Colfax Avenue to the center of LaPorte Avenue; thence northwesterly along the center of LaPorte Avenue to the center of Euclid.Avenue; thence north along the center of Euclid Avenue to the center of Lincoln Way West; thence northwesterly along the center of Lincoln Way Wiest to the center of Bendix Drive North; thence north along the center of Bendix Drive North to the northerly city limits; thence west along said northerly limits to the westerly city limits line; thence south along the westerly limits of the City of South Bend to the intersection of such westerly limits with the center line of the New York Central Railroad right of way; thence southeast- erly along the center of the New York Central right of way to the intersection of said right of way with the center of Walnut Street; thence north along the center of Walnut Street to the center of Napier Street; thence east along the center of Napier Street to the center of Scott Street; thence south along the center of Scott Street to the center of Western Avenue; thence east along the center of Western Avenue to the center of Lafayette Boulevard; thence north along the center of Lafayette Boulevard to the place of beginning. SECTION 4. The Third District shall be bounded as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the center line of Logan Street with the center of the St. Joseph River and running north along the center of Logan Street to the center of Jefferson Boulevard; thence west along the center of Jefferson Boulevard to -2- the City of South Bend with the center of the New York Central Railroad right of way; thence running easterly and southerly along the center of said right of way to the intersection of said right of way with the center of Walnut Street; thence north along the center of Walnut Street to the center of Napier Street; thence east along the center of Napier Street to the center of Scott Street; thence south along the center of Scott Street to the center of Western Avenue; thence east along the center of Western Avenue to the center of Lafayette Boulevard; thence south along the center of Lafayette Boulevard to the center of Sample Street; thence west along the center of Sample Street to the center of Olive Street; thence south along the center of Olive Street to the intersection of the southerly limits of the said city; thence west along said southerly limits and thereafter following a course mainly north and west along said southerly limits to the inter- section of said southerly limits with the westerly limits of said city; thence north along said westerly limits to the place of beginning. SECTION 8. That hereafter, in any primary election, or election held in said city for the nomination or election of candidates or officers for city offices, voting machines, as here- tofore have been or hereafter may be provided by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Joseph County, Indiana, shall be used. SECTION 9. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 10.
