RESOLUTION NO. 13 8 S- 9
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
COMMENDING INDIANA UNIVERSITY AT SOUTH BEND
FOR TWENTY -FIVE YEARS OF EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP
WHEREAS, Indiana University at South Bend provides the highest
level of excellence in its educational programs as reflected in the
academic achievements of its faculty; and
WHEREAS, Indiana University at South Bend has always placed the
education of its students at the center of its efforts as reflected
in the many all- university teaching awards earned by its faculty,
and;
WHEREAS, Indiana University at South Bend has become the
university of choice for many citizens of Northern Indiana as
evidenced by the dramatic growth in its student body, and;
WHEREAS, Indiana University at South Bend is among the national
leaders in educating the "New Majority" of older, working, and
part -time students now enrolling in American universities, and;
WHEREAS, the 1991 -92 academic year marks the twenty -fifth
anniversary of the conferral of the first degrees at Indiana
University at South Bend,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of South Bend does
commend Indiana University at South Bend for its twenty -five years of
educational leadership and extends all best wishes for Indiana
University at South Bend's Silver Celebration Year.
This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
its adoption by the Common Council and approval of the Mayor.
