It was a pleasure to see so many residents participate in SB150 on May 23 and 24. It was a party to remember, bringing
together tens of thousands of our fellow citizens to express pride in South Bend and to celebrate on a scale never seen
before. It was also an opportunity to appreciate all the city has to offer —and to see our city in a new light, illuminated
by the downtown River Lights, which will shine long into the future and brighten the great St. Joseph River.
With summer underway, there are more reasons to celebrate, including many outdoor activities offered by the
City:
• Kennedy Water Playground is open daily. Hours are Monday- Saturday 11 am -5 pm and Sunday 12 -5 pm.
• Potawatomi Pool, open from 12 -6 pm daily, offers aqua aerobics on weekdays.
• The East Race Waterway is open for rafting and kayaking on weekends, 12 -5 pm Saturday and 12:30 -4:30 pm Sundays.
The East Race also offers a climbing wall.
* South Bend Parks and Recreation also presents two free Sunday concert series —the East Race /Seitz Park Concert
Series from 5 -8 pm and the Potawatomi Park Concert Series from 7 -8 pm. Both series run Sundays from June 28
through August 30.
* Fridays by the Fountain helps kick off the weekends with a free concert from 11:45 am to 1:15 pm every Friday
through August 28 at the Jon R. Hunt Plaza in front of the Morris Performing Arts Center. Food is available from
vendors including the Morris Bistro.
* The 15th Annual Kids' Triathlon will be held on July 11 in Potawatomi Park for boys and girls ages 5 to 14. The
course includes swimming, biking, and running. Register by July 1. For more information visit sbpark.org.
This summer South Bend also will host the prestigious 2015 International Softball Congress World Fastball
Championship Tournament, August 8 -15, at the Belleville Sports Complex. Teams and fans from as many as 11
different countries will take part.
The city is also pleased to partner with the St. Joseph County 4 -H Fair to host a Fourth of July parade with the theme
"South Bend 150:" Entries that celebrate South Bend's past, present, and future are encouraged. The parade will begin
at 9:30 am on Saturday, July 4 and will start and end at Four Winds Field, making its way north along Lafayette Street
then west along Colfax Avenue and south along William Street. The parade will coincide with the annual St. Joseph
County 4 -H Fair to be held July 3 -11 at the fairgrounds at 5117 Ironwood Road on the south side of South Bend.

Potawatomi Park Concert Series
Sunday night concerts have been held in Potawatomi
Park since 1954, and they have always been free to the
public. Concerts are on Sundays from 7 -8:00 p.m. unless
otherwise stated.
