As part of the City's Clean River Initiative to keep the St. Joseph River clean, construction is set to begin this summer on a sewer separation project in the East Bank neighborhood. This is phase 5 of the CSO Long Term Control Plan. As part of this project, new storm sewers will be installed in the public right of way on streets South of Jefferson Blvd and West of Eddy St. The CSO project construction typically only covers the side of the street that is being disturbed while the other side is left as is due to budget constraints. Additionally, the former Transpo site which is approximately 10 acre lies within the project limits and is being purchased by Century Builders from Transpo in order to construct new housing. Staff is requesting the use of River East Development Area funds to supplement the CSO work that is set to begin in July/ August 2015 as well as support the new residential development on the former Transpo site. TIF funds will help in the construction of new sidewalks, curbs, treelawn and trees within the project area. · Staff requests approval of a project budget in the amount of $2.5 Million from the River East Development Area. 227 W.
