HomeMy WebLinkAboutRegulating the Conduct of Peddlers, Hawkes, Itinerant Mechants & Others in Going Upon Property of Citizens City of South BendORDINANCE #� AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE CONDUCT OF PEDDLERS, HAWKERS, ITINERANT MERCHANTS AND OTHERS IN GOING UPON THE PROPERTY OF CIT- IZENS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Common Council of the city of South Bend, Indiana: Section I That the practice of going in and upon private residence in the city of South Bend, Indiana, by solicitors, peddlers, hawkers, itin- erant merchants and transient vendors of merehan- dise, not having been requested or invited so to to do by the owner or owners, occupant or occup- ants of said private residences, for the purpose of soliciting orders for the sale of goods, wares and merchandise, and /or for the purpose of dis- posing of and /or peddling or hawking the same, is hereby declared to be a nuisance, and punishable as such nuisance as a misdemeanor. Section II Any person convicted of perpetrating a nuisance.as described and prohibited in the first section of this ordinance, upon conviction thereof shall be fined in a sum not less than Twenty -five Dollars ($25.00),nor more thaiin One Hundred Dollars. Section III All ordinances and part of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section Iii It being deemed by the Common Council of the City of South^Benk that an emergency exists, this ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as re- quired by law.
