Council Officers Announce Hiring of Legislative Research Assistant
Adriana A. Rodriguez is the new Legislative Research Assistant for the South Bend Common Council. Adriana
is a graduate of Trinity High School in South Bend and she received her BBA degree from Saint Mary's
College.
Council President Tim Scott stated that he was "very pleased to see that so many qualified applicants applied for
the position", which he will oversee and will coordinate her assignments and projects. Scott added that"Adriana
brings a wealth of experience, from working with the Senior Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia to working
closely with the wardens of a correctional institution in South Carolina".
Council Member Karen L. White noted that"to have Adriana come back to her hometown of South Bend is very
exciting. Adriana is another fine example of some of the young people who are choosing South Bend to be the
place where they want to live and work".
The Legislative Research Assistant position is part-time and was approved by the Common Council as part of the
2015 budget.
The Common Council's Standard Operating Procedure governing this position notes in part that:
"The professional support and assistance of all Legislative Research Assistants is aimed to further each
member of the Common Council and the Council Attorney to pursue the goals and objectives of the
"Mission Statement of the South Bend Common Council":
"To make certain that our City Government is always responsive to the needs of our residents and that the betterment of
South Bend is always our highest priority".
