of the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
PASSED / VAA( /concerning a certain contract entered into between the Board of Park
Commissioners of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and Alex Langel,
Trustee of Portage Township, St. Joseph County, Indiana, concerning the
payment of funds by Portage Township to the Board of Park Commissioners
of the Municipal City of South Bend for Works Progress Administration
projects.
WITNESSETH
TFL'_T VEEMEAS, certain projects being carried out by the Works
Progress Administration are now being sponsored by the Board of Park
Commissioners of the City of South Bend, and certain other projects
are under consideration and nay be sponsored by said City, and
r+ EEREAS, the Board of Park Commissioners of the City does
not have funds out of which to purchase materials and equipment for
the carrying out of said projects, and
WHEMAS, Portage Township, St. Joseph County, Indiana, through
its Trustee, Alex Langel, for the purpose of removing people from the
relief rolls of said Township, has agreed in a contract entered into
between said Alex Langel, as Trustee, for Portage Township, St. Joseph
County, Indiana, and the Board of Park Commissioners of the City of
South Bend, to pay to the City of South Bend, the sum of $6.75 per man
Der month for each man taken from the relief rolls of said Portage Township,
and employed by the Works Progress Administration on projects sponsored by
the fr_unicipal City of South Bend, and
WH=- M , said Board of Park Commissioners of said City has agreed
in said contract to use said money so derived from Portage Township for
the purpose of furnishing materials and equipment for the carrying out of
said Works Progress Administration projects
NOW, THEP.EFORE, BE IT vz$EP that said contract entered into
between Alex Langel, Trustee of Portage Township, St.Joseph County, Indiana,
and the Board of Park Commissioners of the Mu*icipal City of South Bend,
Indiana, which contract is dated December J1 —, 1939, and a copy of whidh
is attached hereto, be and the same is hereby in all things confirmed and
ratifieI by the Common Council of the Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana,
