Be it ordained by the Common Council of the city of South Bend, Indianan Section 1. That Section 13 of Ordinance No. 2979 be amended to read as follows& Section 13. RATES OF FARE. No person, firm or corporation, owning, operating or controlling Any motor vehicle used as a taxicab within the limitss of th@ city of South Bend shall charge less than the following •rates to be determined by the taximeter: First half mile or fraction thereof...... 151 For each succeeding half mile thereafter. 050 r nor more than the following rates to be determined by the taxi- meter: First half mile or fraction thereof...... WO i?or each succeeding quarter mile - there- &f ter ........................... >.. 05$ Provided, however, that a, taxieab'may be hired at the rate of $1.50 per hour when so hired before the trip is begin and provided. further that for each 4 minutes of waiting time there may be made a charge of 10¢. Waiting time shall include the time when the taxicab is not in motion beginning with its arrival at the place to which it has been called, or the time consumed while standing at the direction of the passenger, but no charge shall be made for time lost because of the inefficiency of the taxieatr or its operator or for time consumed by a premature response to call. The above charges shall be for one or more persons. No taxicab shall be let or hired. upon a meter basis when the taximeter does not accurately register the fare for any reason. Section 2.
