A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA, DECLARING THE WEEK OF MAY 9, 1994, AS
PUBLIC SERVICE RECOGNITION W K.
Obtreas, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana recognizes
that throughout our country there will be celebrations and ceremonies honoring government
workers during "Public Service Recognition Week"; and
'D bereas, events are planned by Federal, State, local agencies around our
country, for these workers who are the backbone of our governments; and
Vbtreas, governmental workers include astronauts, custodians, accountants,
secretaries, park rangers, police officers, firefighters, attorneys, military members, park
department workers, street department workers, utility workers, elected officials, and
countless other dedicated individuals; and
'i btttas, governmental workers at all levels of government have accepted the
challenge to provide the best and highest quality of services to their communities by
creating a governmental system which "work better and cost less "; and
V bltreas, the Common Council believes it is a fitting and proper message to
continue to set a clear vision for not only our Country's future, but also our County's and
City's future, as we continue to address our communities problems and improve the quality
of life.

&UUOn I. The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, hereby
declares the week of May 9, 1994 as "Public Service Recognition Week" in South
Bend, Indiana.
Oettion II. The Common Council recognizes the many, many unsung heros who
work on a day by day basis at all levels of government for the betterment of our
community, and our Country.
�5ettion III. The Common Council challenges all citizens of the City of South
Bend to participate in this week of recognition, and ask all governmental workers to
continue to set an example for our residents to emulate.
ktCtiOn IV. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its
adoption by the Common Council and approval by the M�yr
