City Clerk —�� 19qtl. �—+ Mayor RESOLUTION No, 2119-94 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, ENDORSING THE PROGRAM "THIS IS MY NEIGHBORHOOD: NO SHOOTING ALLOWED" "D belVtag, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, acknowledges that a partnership of individuals and organizations throughout our community is supporting the program entitled "This is my Neighborhood: No Shooting Allowed'; and W bVVta .0, that under the guidance of the Honorable Jeanne Jourdan, Judge of the St. Joseph Superior Court, many businesses, including St. Joseph Medical Center, Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Valley American Bank, the United Religious Community, WSBT, WNDU, the South Bend Silver Hawks, the South Bend Police Department, Cindy Eastman, Chairperson of Leadership XX, the teachers of the South Bend Community School Corporation, St. Joseph County Bar Association, and countless other concerned citizens have donated their time and resources to the program; and W btrtas, on May 4, 1994, in the Century Center, a multi- dimensional art project of 6th grade students of the South Bend Community School Corporation was unveiled along with over 250 photographs provided by nearly 500 5th graders; and Mberta8, on May 18, 1994, WSBT will broadcast live a program dealing with topics of children and violence with audience participation and a gun exchange program to take place at Potowatomi Park that day; and "Wbtr9a0, May 22, 1994 will be "This is my Neighborhood: No Shooting Allowed Day" at the Coveleski Stadium where free admission will be given to all children ages 12 and under who turn in a toy gun; and "b bgrta8, the South Bend Common Council endorses "This is my Neighborhood: No Shooting Allowed" as a permanent program in the City of South Bend, Indiana. 31obo, tbtrt£ort, be it rtsolua by the Common Council of the Cali of ono vtub, lnbiana, as £ollobos: &Wi0n I. The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, hereby endorses and proudly supports the program commonly known as "This is My Neighborhood: No Shooting Allowed ". §ttti0n II. The Council THANKS all of the many corporate and individual sponsors who have taken leadership positions in spearheading the program "This is my Neighborhood: No Shooting Allowed ", and in particular, Judge Jeanne Jourdan. The Common Council urges all residents of our community to participate in all of the planned projects to take place in this month, and to take positive and constructive action in curbing crime and violence in each of their neighborhoods.
