Presented by me to the Mayor of the City of South Bend, India March 15, 194 Approved and signed by me City Clerk Mayor ACZOYUtiOU 310. 2104 -94 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING THE THIRD DISTRICT AMERICAN LEGION AND THE SOUTH BEND AMERICAN LEGION POST 50 AS THEY CELEBRATE THE 75TH BIRTHDAY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE AMERICAN LEGION, AND ESTABLISHING THE WEEK OF MARCH 15TH AS "AMERICAN LEGION WEEK" IN SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. 'DD1iler08, the Common Council acknowledges that this year the American Legion celebrates its 75th anniversary of providing continuous service to veterans, families of veterans and the nation; and 'OQ btVtOU, our community is indeed fortunate to have the fine services of the 3rd District American Legion and the South Bend American Legion Post 50; and 'W treau, today the American Legion is made up of more than 3.1 million Americans who sacrificed time with their families and left their careers to serve our country; and V btre0>I, the American Legion, through the 3rd District American Legion and the the South Bend American Legion Post 50 have maintained a viable Veterans Administration Health Care System in place to help serve those in need; and V reOS, such programs as the American Legion High School Oratorical program; the American Legion Baseball; American Legion Boy Scouts; Boys State and Girls State; and other youth programs have provided opportunities to educate the youth of our country about the responsibilities of citizenship; and 'IlD1W409, the week of March 15th will mark the official 75th Birthday of the founding of the American Legion. 31otj tbere£Ore, be it orbaiueb, by the Oman Couutil of the City of Zoutb 1JOett4, 30iana, as follows: &Vtiolt I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the South Bend Common Council hereby designates the week of March 15, 1994, as "American Legion Week" in the City of South Bend, Indiana. II. The Common Council is proud of the many accomplishments of the 3rd District American and the South Bend American Legion Post 50 which it has provided for the past several years. btttiOlt III. The South Bend Common Council encourages all of the citizens of South Bend to participate and celebrate with the veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, Desert Shield.and Desert Storm.
