ORDINANCE NO.217411 AS AMENDED.
ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING THE AMOUNT OF 95,000.00
FROM THE GEN WAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA TO THE BUDGET OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC
WORKS AND SAFETY, AND APPROPRIATING SAID
A14OUNT FOR THE PR12ARATION AND MAINTENANCE
OF CIVIL DEFENSE.
WHEREAS, the United States of America is now at war
with Germany, Italy and Japan; and
WHEREAS, the President of the United States, the
Governor of the State of Indiana, and the IYtayor of the City of
South Bend have each declared the existence of an emergency; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City of South Bend,
Indiana, on its own behalf and in cooperation with other units of
government, should create and maintain a proper defense system
the protection of the persons and property within its city limits.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL,
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, THAT:
Section 1•
The amount of $5,000.00 be, and the same is, hereby
transferred from the General Fund of the City of South Bend,
Indiana to the Budget of the Board of Public Works and Safety
of the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Section 2•
That the said amount be, and the same is, hereby
appropriated for the preparation of and paying all expenses
reasonably incurred in creating and maintaining a proper civil
defense arrangement for the City of South Bend, Indiana, for
and on its own behalf, or in cooperation with other government
units. Said appropriation of $5,000.00 is specifically allotted
as follows: I

This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage by the Common Council, its approval by
the Mayor, its legal publication, and its approval by the State
Board of Accounts.
