Committee Members Present: Karen White, Valerie Schey, Gavin Ferlic, Derek Dieter Citizen Members Present: Gavin Seabe, Alfreda Gillespie Other Council Present: Tim Scott, Henry Davis, Dr. Fred Ferlic, Oliver Davis, Dr. David Varner Others Present: Kathy Cekanski - Farrand Agenda: *Bill 15 -22 - Proposed Pokagon Development *Bill 15 -13 - Concerns over Assessment Process for Land *Bill 14 -15 - Amend Chapter 14 South Bend Municipal Code Regarding Initiative on Homelessness Three items were listed on the agenda of the Community relations Committee chaired by Councilman Oliver Davis. Bill 15 -22 was a resolution initiated by Oliver Davis welcoming the Pokagon Indian investment in the 61h district of South Bend. Oliver made the presentation. He said the proposed Pokagon Band's investment on the nearly 166 acres at SR23 and the bypass included plans for housing units, health -care facilities, tribal government facilities and apartments. Also in the discussion stage was a conference facility, a gaming facility and parking garage. The local impact would include the creation of 1,400 construction jobs and 2,000 permanent jobs representing an increase of the St. Joseph County workforce by an estimated 2.9 %. During Council discussion, Valerie Schey, in particular, offered support of the welcoming resolution. Subsequently Valerie Schey moved to send to full Council favorably. Gavin Ferlic seconded and all supported. The second item, bill 15 -13, was inadvertently placed under this Committee. Bill 15 -13 had already been discussed under the Personnel & Finance Committee. The last item, bill 14 -15, regarding a collaborative pilot initiative on homelessness was continued until the next meeting on April 27`h. Karen adjourned the meeting at 5:38 P.M.
