Committee Members Present: Gavin Ferlic, Henry Davis, David Varner, Dr. Fred Ferlic Citizen Members Present: Bob Emery, Pat Mullin Other Council Present: Tim Scott, Valerie Schey, Oliver Davis, Derek Dieter, Karen White Others Present: Kathy Cekanski - Farrand, Brock Zeeb, Chauncey Hitchcock, Chris Fielding Agenda: Bill 15 -24 Tax Abatement for 3230 South Bend Ave. Rainbow Rascals South Bend LLC —4 Yr. Real Bill 15 -25 Tax Abatement for 1702 Robinson St. Bamar Plastics, Inc. —5 Yr. Personal Gavin Ferlic, Chair of the Community Investment Committee called the meeting to order noting two bills up for consideration. The first bill 15 -24 was a petition for a four year real property tax abatement for Rainbow Rascals at 3230 South Bend Avenue. Brock Zeeb from the Community Investment Department described the project as a child care center serving 150 children. Total investment was estimated to be over $1,255,000 and would create 30 jobs. Chauncey Hitchcock, corporate council for Rainbow Rascals, further described the proposal and was open for any questions. After brief discussion Dr. Fred Ferlic moved to send favorably. Citizen member Bob Emery offered a second and all affirmed. The second bill, 15 -25, was a petition from Bamar Plastics at 1702 S. Robinson for a five year personal property abatement. Brook Zeeb again made the presentation describing Bamar's purchase of a vertical rotary press allowing Bamar to expand, better serve their customers and remain competitive. A company representative was present to answer questions. Valerie Schey wondered about job creation. Brock confirmed that three new jobs would be created. Subsequently, Valerie Schey moved for favorable recommendation. Gavin Ferlic seconded and all affirmed. There being no further business, Gavin adjourned at 3:51 P.M.
