Utilization Board Members. Board procedures, DUB history, and a summary of the Diversity Ordinance were some of the topics covered.
* Dialogues and trainings regarding M /WBE inclusion, data collection and data reporting occur regularly between the Purchasing Department and all other
City Departments.
* All City Departments are now collecting and recording data conducted with M /WBE's. They are required to turn M /WBE purchasing activity data into
the Purchasing Department quarterly. This data includes M /WBE's that are both registered and not registered with the IDOA.
* The City purchased memberships for Michiana Women in Construction (MWIC) and Women Business Owners of Michiana (WBOM). The DCO or other
City Staff attend luncheons, events, and board meetings with these organizations to promote doing business with the City.
Moving forward...
* The DCO is collaborating with St. Mary's College and The Indiana Department of Administration (IDOA) to plan the Annual North Central Business
Conference. The Conference will be held on June 10th at St. Mary's College and is free to all M /WBE's. There will be many educational workshops, some
topics will include banking, managing employees, advertising, and how to get certified with the IDOA. The Public Works Department will also participate in
the conference and give a presentation on "How to do Business with the City."
