RESOLUTION NO. V
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, COMMENDING J. JEROME PERKINS FOR HIS FOUR (4)
Vbtrt8 .0, in 1993, J. Jerome Perkins was appointed to the South Bend Board of Park
Commissioners by Mayor Joseph E. Keman; and
W154r480, utilizing his fine management skills and experience from his many years of
dedicated service on the South Bend Police Department, J. Jerome Perkins brought new
perspectives and innovative ideas for consideration; and
Wbtrt88, during Mr. Perkins tenure on the Board of Park Commissioners, he helped
oversee the merger of the Recreation Commission with the Park Department therefore creating the
current Parks and Recreation Department ; and
V b0*8s, several major park projects of the City of South Bend, Indiana, were guided by
the advice and leadership of Mr. Perkins, some of which included the extension of the riverwalk
system to the Twyckenham Bridge, the development of the Rum Village Annex Mountain Bicycle
Trail, and the construction of the Belleville Softball Complex which will be opening later this year.

Bend, Indiana, as follows:
Section I. On behalf of all the the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the
Common Council hereby publicly commends J. JEROME PERKINS for his four (4) years of
dedicated public service to the citizens of South Bend, Indiana as a member of the South Bend
Board of Park Commissioners.
Section II. The Common Council acknowledges that J. JEROME PERKINS
brought to the South Bend Board of Park Commissioners a dedicated spirit and sincere work ethic
which he was known for before retiring from the South Bend Police Department as Chief of
Detectives and his dedicated service in the United States Marshal's Office.
Section M. Thanks to the efforts of J. JEROME PERKINS, and other members of
the Board of Park Commissioners, the Department of Parks and Recreation's mission of
"providing to all citizens and guests of South Bend the highest quality of recreational and leisure
activities, while providing well managed parks and recreational facilities with updated
programming and friendly service ", is a reality.
Section IV. The South Bend Common Council wishes J. JEROME PERKINS and
his family a future filled with continued success and happiness, and again express our sincere
thanks for his years of dedication to the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Section V. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by
the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.
