A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, COMMENDING THOMAS ZAKRZEWSKI, SIXTH DISTRICT COUNCIL
MEMBER, FOR HIS 13 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
VW00, the South Bend Common Council proudly acknowledges that Thomas
Zakrzewski has served as Sixth District Council Member for the past thirteen years; and
'DD btTtas, the Council acknowledges that when Council Member Zakrzewski was first
elected he was unable to partake in Holiday Spirits because he was too young; and
VnZ t4g, despite being the youngest Council Member ever elected to serve on the South
Bend Common Council, Tom Zakrzewski used his energy, youth, and enthusiasm to pursue many
new and innovative causes for the citizens of South Bend, and in particular the residents of the
Sixth District; and
'QI bCV9SS, Council Member Zakrzewski has diligently served under Mayor Roger O.
Parent and Mayor Joseph E. Kernan; has held every elected officer position of the Council from
Council President and Vice - President to Chairperson of the Committee of the Whole; has chaired
the most powerful committees of the Council; and has answered thousands of citizen calls and
requests over his thirteen years of service; and
"f bitlVCas, Council Member Zakrzewski aWa "Junk Yard Czar" has faithfully inspected
on an annual basis each of the recycling centers wishing to operate in the City; fought hard to
ensure the rights and voices of the citizens of the West Side during the debates on the Ethanol
Plant; was instrumental in making Coveleski Stadium a reality; challenged the City Administration
to focus on a paved alley program which would enhance the older sections of our fine City;
championed enforceable truck route legislation; and supported the Belleville Softball Complex
which is scheduled to open in 1997 - -with these just being some of the many vital activities Tom
Zakrzewski has dedicated his time and efforts to in his 13 years of service.

Bend, Indiana, as follows:
Section 1. On behalf of all the the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the
Common Council hereby publicly commends THOMAS ZAKRZEWSKI for his thirteen (13)
years of dedicated and enthusiastic service to the citizens of South Bend and in particular the
residents of the Sixth District and the entire Westside.
Section H. The Common Council notes that Council Member Zakrzewski just turned 34
years old last week, but is today the "Dean of the Council" by having the longest current tenure on
the South Bend Common Council.
Section HI. The South Bend Common Council wishes Tom well as he takes on new
career endeavors as the newly elected Treasurer of St. Joseph County; wishes him, his wife,
Mindy, and their entire family continued success; and gratefully says - $IRttkUj4 on behalf of all
of South Bend!!!!
Section liV. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption
by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.
