r' FAS, by a certain statute passed by the Indiana General Assembly,
signed by the Governor, and filed under emergency provisions on _aarch 8, 1945,
it was provided effective as of said date that chiefs of Police Departments
and of Fire Departments of cities of the second class shall not be paid less
than ?4500.00 per annum; and
iHEREAS, the aforementioned statute was filed on march 8, 1945, and
became effective immediately, the police chief and the fire chief of the City
of South Send are entitled to be paid at the rate of 194500.00 from said 8th day
of March, 1945; and
"iIEUM, additional appropriations are necessary in order to provide
funds for the payment of such increase in accordance with the following formula,
that is to say, 298/365 of 1;550.00 or 55449.04 for each of sa_d officers; and
";HER AS, by a certain statute passed by the Indiana General Assembly,
signed by the Governor, and filed under emergency provisions on march 6, 1945,
it was provided effective as of said date that the Secretary of the Board of
Health o£ cities of the second class shall be Laid not less than 4 per capita
for each resident of said city as determined by the last preceeding United States
census; and
JHEREA9, the aforen:en'' ioned statute was filed on :.;arch 6, 1945, and
became effective immediately, the jecretary of the Board of Health of the City
of South Bend is entitled to be paid at the rate of 4 oer capita from said 6th
day of ;.arch, 1945; and
!'WHEREAS, additional appropriations are necessary in order to provide
funds for the payment of such increase in accordance with the following formula,
that is to say, 300/365 of A2,025.36 or '.;x,664.67 for said officer.
NO'."i, 1 LR FOi3, be it ordained by the Co;mqon Council of the Cityof
South Bend, that:
Section 1. The amount of $P2,562.75 be, and the same is hereby,
transferred from the general fund of the City of South Bend, . ?449.04 of said
amount to 1945 Budgetary Account 1tio. Pll, $449.04 of said amount to 1945
Budgetary Account No. Q113 X91,664.67 of said amount to 1945 Budgetary Account
ho. i'F11, being respectively tine budgetary items providing for the payment of
salaries of the Chief of Police, Chief of the mire Department and Secretary of
and
the Board of Health of the City of South Bend, Indiana, /for such uses and
purposes as are herein provided.
Section 2. Because of the statutory provisions referred to above
an emergency exists.
Section 3. The disapproval of any one or more of the budgetary
transfers and appropriations for ;which provision is made in this ordinance shall
not affect the validity of any other budgetary transfer or appropriation herein'
made if approved.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage by the Common Council, its approval by the a.yor, and the
fulfillment of all statutory -requirements relating to emergency appropriations.
