An Ordinance
Approving and authorizing the execution
of an Agreement providing for the develop-
ment and administration of an emergency
housing project for distressed families
of servicemen and for veterans and their
families, between the City of South Bend,
Indiana, and the Federal Public Housing
Authority.
IMREAS, there is an urgent need for additional dwelling units
for the housing of servicemen, veterans and their families in the City of
South Bend, Indiana; and
VMREAS, it is possible to secure some dwelling facilities from
the Federal Public Housing Authority pursuant to the provisions of Title V
of the Lanham Act (Public law 849, 76th Congress as amended, particularly
by the amendment embodied in Public Law 292, 79th Congress, let Sess.); and
117HEREAS, the City of South Bend, Indiana, and the Federal Public
Housing Authority desire to enter into an Agreement with respect to the
utilization of the aforesaid facilities,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
Indiana, as follows:
SECTION I. That the City of South bend, Indiana, shall enter into
an Agreement for the provision of One Hundred Eighty (180) dwelling accommo-
dations substantially in the form of FPHA 1481 -4 (a copy of which is on file
in the office of the City Clerk and has been reviewed by this body and found
satisfactory in all respects).
SECTION II. That the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is
hereby authorized and directed to execute in quintuplicate the Agreement
covering the transfer.of said facilities, in the form referred to in Section I
hereof, and the City Clerk of said City, shall impress the corporate seal of
the said City thereon and to attest the same and said officers are hereby
authorized to comply with the requirements of such contract including the
submission of an appropriate Project Development Program and Project Management
Plan which is satisfactory to the Federal Public Housing Authority, and
take such other action as may be necessary to provide and operate said
housing facilities for families of servicemen, for veterans and their
families pursuant to the provisions of Title V of the Lanham Act (Public
Jaw 849, 76th Congress as amended, particularly by the amendment embodied
in Public law 292, 79th Congress 1st Seas.).
SECTION III. This ordinance shall take effect from and after
its passage, and its approval by the Mayor.
