AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE NEW YORK CENTRAL RAILROAD COMPANY AND THE GRAND TRUNK WESTERN RAILROAD COMPANY TO INSTALL AND MAINTAIN THE LATEST IMPROVED AUTOMATIC FLASHLIGHT SIGNALS AND AUTOMATIC SHORT ARM GATES AT THE ARNOLD STREET CROSSING OVER THE TRACES AND RIGHT - OF -WAY OF THE ILLINOIS DIVISION OF THE NEW YORK CENTRAL RAILROAD COMPANY AND THE RIGHT -OF -WAY AND TRACKS OF THE GRAND TRUNK WESTERN RAILROAD COMPANY IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND INDIANA. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: That the New York Central Railroad Company and the Grand Trunk Western Railroad Company respectively be, and they are hereby ordered and required to install within a period of Twelve (12) months after passage of this ordinance, and maintain thereafter, the latest improved automatic flash- light signals and automatic short arm gates at the Aj�old Street crossing over the tracks and right -of -way of the Illi- nois Division of the New York Central Railroad Company and over the tracks and right -of -way of the main line of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad Company respectively, all with- in the city of South Bend, Indiana. Section 2• That any person, firm, company or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be fined for each and every offense not less than Ten ($10.00) Dollars nor more than One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars; and each dayls violation shall be considered a separate and distinct offense and shall be punished accordingly. Section 3• That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed on and as of the day and date such installations provided for in Section 1 are actually made. Section 4• This ordinance shall be in effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, its approval by the Mayor and its legal publication.
