AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20, ARTICLE 6
OF THE SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL CODE PROHIBITING
THE PARKING OF TRUCKS WITHIN FIFTY FEET OF ANY
STOP SIGN IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
Statement of Purpose and Intent
The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, has found that in order
to promote public safety in the parking of vehicles on streets in the City of South Bend,
it is necessary to restrict the parking of trucks in areas that would obstruct the visibility
of any traffic sign.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, THAT:
SECTION I. Chapter 20, Article 6, Section 20-63 of the South Bend Municipal
Code is amended as follows:
Section 20-63. Stopping or parking near hazardous or congested places.
When signs are erected upon approach to hazardous or congested
places, no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle in such a designated place.
Further no person shall park a truck or vehicle, as defined in Section 20-106, or
a recreational vehicle as defined by State Law within fifl~(50) feet of anv stop
sign or in anv location that blocks the_public right-of-way or the view of anv_
traffic sign.
SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.
