Agenda: Organizational Meeting
Committee Chair Karen White held a brief organizational meeting of the Community Relations
Committee. A quorum was present with only Valerie Schey absent for medical reasons.
In her brief opening comments Karen started the Committee's purpose to improve communications and
develop working partnerships throughout the City. Additionally, the Committee would oversee and
work with the office of Community Affairs.
She asked fellow Councilmembers to share their goals and objectives for the coming year.
Gavin Ferlic advocated continued emphasis on the "light up South Bend" street lighting initiative and the
curb and sidewalk program.
Derek Dieter echoed those priorities. Karen stated she would be asking Public Works for a lighting
update. She also asked Councilmembers to think of ways to better communicate with constituents.
Karen adjourned the meeting at 3:34 P.M.
