ORDINANCE NO. 1as —
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 4 AND 7 OF ORDINANCE
NO, 1761. ADOPTED FEBRUARY 22, 1915. THE SAME BEING
ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE MAINTENANCE
OF LIGHTS AND GUARDS AT PLACES WHERE STREETS ARE BEING
EXCAVATED OR OBSTRUCTED* AND AMENDING THE TITLE THEREOF,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana:
Section le That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 1761, adopted February
229 1915, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Section
4. No person shall operate a vehicle upon any street or alley which is
in the process of being paved or resurfaced, or upon a street or alley
that is closed by barriers or barricades or otherwise from public travel*
Also, it shall be unlawful for any person to take, remove, destroy or
in any manner interfere with any lights barrier or barricade placed at
any excavation or obstruction as required by this ordivanceo
Section 2* That Section 7 of said Ordinance Noe 1761, be and the
same is hereby amended to read as followss Section 7, Any person
violating any provision of this ordinance shall be fined in a sum not
exceeding the sum of One Hundred ($100e00) Dollars, to which may be
added imprisonment in the County jail for not more than thirty (30)
days.
Action 3e That the title of the aforesaid Ordinance No. 1761,
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows. An Ordinance
providing for the maintenance of lights and guards at places sdtere
streets are being repaired, excavated or obstructed, and providing a
penalty for violation thereofo
Section 4e This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and legal publication.,
