AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
APPROPRIATING $8,350.00 FROM THE
HAZ-MAT FUND (FUND #289)
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
The City of South Bend through its Fire Department operates a Hazardous Material
Response Team for the purpose of providing the citizens of South Bend with protection from
dangers arising from chemical spills and other accidents involving hazardous materials.
To operate at full efficiency and best protect the public, the Hazardous Material Response
Team needs to purchase new equipment:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. The following sum of money is hereby appropriated and ordered set apart from
and within the Haz-Mat Fund (Fund No. 289) for the purchase of new equipment.

Section II. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by
the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

Dear Ms. Pfeifer,
Please find attached for filing an ordinance requesting an appropriation for $8,350 within the
Haz-Mat Fund (#289). Revenues generated by the team (when responding out of the City)
continue to be a great asset in defraying the expense for the operation of this team. We have
identified necessary equipment and working capital expense for the year of 2000. Funds are
available and the appropriation is for the following equipment: (See attached)
