A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA,
PUBLICLY COMMENDING SOUTH BEND FIRE CHIEF ROBERT X. QUINN III FOR HIS
NEARLY 35 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
/'!'hrrixead, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes that Fire
Chief Robert X. Quinn III will soon be retiring from the South Bend Fire Department after
approximately thirty-four (34) years and ten months of dedicated fire service; and
Wkweaa, the Council recognizes that Chief Quinn began as a South Bend Firefighter on
May 25, 1970, a position he held until his promotion to Battalion Chief on February 22, 1980; he
was then promoted to Assistant Chief of Operations on February 17, 1992, a position which he
held until his promotion by Mayor Luecke to Fire Chief on May 5, 2004; and
Wlz1ze'k , Chief Quinn has provided very capable leadership in overseeing the South
Bend Fire Department which is currently composed of 248 hard- working sworn firefighters and
7 non -sworn members, with a. total Fire Department budget for personnel, capital and pension
trusts funds of $25,176,895, while also maintaining twelve (12) fire stations throughout the city.

Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the
Common Council hereby publicly thanks and commends Fire Chief Robert X. Quinn III for
his 34 years and ten months of dedicated public service on the South Bend Fire Department.
Section II. The South Bend Common Council wishes Chief Quinn and his wife, Connie,
many years of camping, fishing and traveling adventures as they enjoy great times together with
their children and grandchildren.
Section III . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption
