A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA,
PUBLICLY COMMENDING THE 2004 -2005 UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME FENCING TEAM
FOR WINNING THE NCAA COMBINED FENCING NATIONAL TITLE
Wei -w4, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is proud to recognize
that the University of Notre Dame 2004 -2005 Fencing Team won the NCAA Combined Fencing
National Title on March 20, 2005; to win the fencing program's 71h national title; and
fflA xeaa, the Council notes that the University of Notre Dame Fencing Team qualified 11
of the maximum 12 total entrants in the 4 -day event, with this team being the 15` fencing program
ever to win the NCAA title without the full allotment of fencers when they beat the Buckeyes of the
Ohio State University Fencing Team 173 -171, in the final rounds of the fencing bouts; and
O#Xwweaa, the South Bend Common Council recognizes each of the players and coaches of
the gold -medal NCAA University of Notre Dame Championship Fencing Team, namely:

Indiana, as follows:
Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common
Council hereby congratulates each and every member of the University of Notre Dame 2004 -2005
Fencing Team for winning the NCAA Combined Fencing National Title
Section II. The South Bend Common Council believes that the hard -work, discipline,
dedication, and special talents in using the epee, foil and saber as a member of the University of
Notre Dame 2004 -2005 Fencing Team, has enabled each of these individuals to be an excellent
role model in the classrooms and in fencing tournaments; with each team member bringing the
highest of honors to themselves, their family and friends, the University of Notre Dame and all of
the residents of the City of South Bend, Indiana.
Section III . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by
