Agenda: Confirming & Approving Contact for Energy Savings at Century
Center with Ameresco
Dr. Fred Ferlic, Chairman of the PARC Committee called the hearing to order with a quorum present and
one item on the agenda, bill 17 -76. This resolution before the Council asks them to endorse an
agreement between the City and Ameresco for a guaranteed energy savings contract with Century
Center.
Eric Horvath, Director of Public Works, made the presentation. He described Ameresco as a for - profit
company providing comprehensive energy solutions for facilities throughout the country. After
completing a potential energy savings evaluation, Ameresco would propose a contract guaranteeing
energy savings at Century Center. Eric characterized this agreement as a no -risk proposal for the city.
Any potential risk would be assumed by Ameresco.
There was some brief discussion relating to how long this evaluation process would take before a
contract for service would be presented to the Council. Eric said the evaluation and subsequent
approval and start of services could be completed before the end of the year.
Ultimately a motion to recommend the bill favorably was made by Derek Dieter. Tim Scott seconded.
There was no dissent.
Dr. Ferlic adjourned the meeting at 3:50 P.M.
