The grant funds will be used to obtain computers for all of the Fire Department's eleven stations along with other hardware and software. The City of South Bend is required to contribute 20% of the total project cost, or $14,676.00, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is contributing the remaining 80% of the cost, or $58,706.00 NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: Section I. The sum of $73,382.00 be and hereby is appropriated from Emergency Service Capital Improvement Fund No. 288 for the purpose of purchasing computers and other hardware and software to be used by the South Bend Fire Department pursuant to a U.S. Department of Homeland Security grant, of which 80% ($58,706.00)is the federal share and 20% ($14,676.00) is the City of South Bend's share. Section II. BEPiD, tN. Please find attached for filing an Ordinance requesting an appropriation for $73,382.00 within the Emergency Medical Service Capital Improvement Fund #288. The purpose of this request is to appropriate funds from a U.S. Department Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters grant which was awarded to the City's Fire Department. This grant was awarded for a South Bend Fire Department firefighter computer based training program which will provide computers for all eleven fire stations along with other hardware and software which will allow firefighters to train on a computer at their station at any time. The grant's approved project costs total is $73,382.00. The federal share is 80 percent $58,706.00 of the approved amount and the city of South Bend Fire Department's share of the cost is 20 percent or $14,676.00.
