Executive Session of the South Bend Common Council
2014
The July 9, 2014 Executive Session of the South Bend Common Council was called to order by
Council President Oliver J. Davis at 5:03 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room. He noted
today's meeting is a joint meeting with the Board of Public Safety, with Laura A. Vasquez,
Board President then also calling the meeting to order.
Persons in attendance included Council Members Tim Scott, Henry Davis, Jr., Dr. Fred Ferlic,
Oliver J. Davis, Karen L. White, and Derek D. Dieter; Board of Public Safety Members: Laura
A. Vasquez, Board President; Eddie L. Miller, John Collins, and Daniel Jones; Deputy Mayor
Marl Neal, Police Chief Ron Teachman, Fire Chief Steve Cox, Police Services Division Chief
Gary Horvath, Fire Assistant Chief of Services James Lopez, Fire Assistant Chief of Operations
Todd Skwarcan, Fire Battalion Chief Dave Maenhout, City Controller John Murphy, Human
Resources Director Janet Cadotte, Board of Public Safety's Agent Cory Hamel, and Council's
Agent Kathleen Cekanski - Farrand
Council President Oliver J. Davis noted that the executive session was being called for the
purpose of the discussion of strategy with regard to collective bargaining relative to public safety
employees pursuant to Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5-6. 1 (b)(2)(A).
This is to certify that the only subject matter discussed at this Executive Session was that
contained in the June 26, 2014 Notice of Executive Session (attached)
The meeting was adjourned at 6:09 p.m.
